Skillet Street Food founder Josh Henderson dished his tips for the tailgate grill in the November issue of Seattle Met. I got the assignment call right before a recent trip to Kauai and was stoked for a fun portrait session before hopping on the plane. Photographed on location in the Montlake parking lot outside Husky Stadium at the University of Washington in Seattle, it was just a small crew of Dawg fans firing up the BBQ wishing it was actually a college football Saturday!

Shooting to specific layout, we were moving quickly and repeating the scenarios to get the best flames, so there are not many outtakes from this assignment. Below is a final frame snapped for fun before breaking  down our set. I couldn’t resist shooting the fire one more time. Thanks to Josh and Melissa for a hot shoot!

And the tearsheet, below, from the current issue available on newsstands now. Lots of great photos in this issue including works by John Keatley and Chase Jarvis, so pick up a copy today and support us all!

And finally,  a short video glimpse at the location behind the scenes of our shoot, turning a half-empty parking lot into a semblance of it’s game day tailgate glory. Go Dawgs!
